Backyard Summer Soirée

Jay + Amanda were married in Tuscany last summer at an intimate gathering with family + friends. {yes. we are jealous too!} With many guests unable to attend their destination wedding, the newlyweds wanted to recreate their wedding vibe at home a year later, and celebrate with loved ones at their one year anniversary.

With a Tuscan inspired menu, brilliantly catered by Yorkshire Pudding, the event was setup under a tent with farm style lighting and harvest tables creating one long family style table. We took marsala, colour of the year as our inspiration, and mixed this red wine hue with a palette of greys, ivories + golds. Dahlias, olive branches and tons of greenery lined the entire length of the table along with tons of candlelight that set the mood for the evening.

It was an intimate garden party gathering, with a fun + cozy vibe. Good music, food – oh, and did we mention Jay special ordered the wine from the same vineyard they were married at in Tuscany!

Thank you again Jay + Amanda for giving us creative freedom and letting us run with it. You two sure know how to throw a party! <3

Andrea + Daniel

Andrea + Daniel hosted their closest family and friends at the stunning Lookout Point Country Club overlooking the Niagara Escarpment. With soft blush tones, ivory + gold, infused with romantic hydrangeas, roses, and a ton of candlelight, the reception felt like a chapter out of the Secret Garden. The bride and groom were glowing all evening, especially when they surprised all their guests with a secretly choreographed first dance that they rocked on the dance floor. It was a beautiful evening filled with love + laughter, and not to mention an amazing candy bar that featured incredible sweets imported from the groom’s native Sweden – trust us, we tried all of them!

Calligraphy Inspiration

With our love for traditional ‘snail mail’ infused with Anji’s killer calligraphy skills, we were beyond excited when our client asked us to create and design custom invites and envelopes for their upcoming dinner event. Inspired by olive branch greenery for a Tuscan themed dinner soiree, we wanted to set the tone right from the start with the invitations! Check out some behind the scenes progress pics before we sent these lovelies in the mail! Can’t wait to share pics of the event in a few weeks!

Salon Wisp

We had so much fun designing and styling our latest interiors project. Salon Wisp owner, Renee Boudreau recently moved locations to a bigger and brighter space and wanted a fresh new look for the salon. Keeping the concept crisp and modern, we worked with a black/white mixed with gold palette, and softened the look with organic textures and reclaimed woods. Our fave piece is hands down the custom live edge reception desk – so gorgeous!

Have a peek at the new space, brilliantly photographed by Robyn Russell Photography.

With it already being a winter wonderland here in Southern Ontario, we can’t help but get a little excited that the holidays are just around the corner! Warm, cozy sweaters, Christmas baking, gift wrapping, and a touch of sparkle for those holiday parties … we love it all! Just wanted to share some of the things we are looking forward to this holiday season … mmm, hot chocolate!

{insert happy dance}

On behalf of Anji and myself, weʼd like to welcome you to our humble little abode on the world wide web as we are beyond grateful that youʼve taken the time to come and visit us here!

Itʼs been a long journey to get to this point, with a few bumps along the way, but we made it and are super excited to share our new website with you! Lots of work and editing went on behind the scenes but it definitely feels oh-so-amazing to have a website that we are proud to call our own.

A lot of thank youʼs and shout outs need to be handed out so Iʼll get right to it …
For myself, my first big thank you goes to my husband Ben for his infinite amount of love, support and motivation. Thank you for always believing in me and reminding me that if it was easy, then everybody would do it. And even though heʼs still too young to understand it, Iʼd like to thank my son Sebastian for being my perpetual source of inspiration as he is my daily reminder to be the best person that I can be. Big thank youʼs to our families including my mom, Matt, Mike, Rolf, Gord, and Tiff and to all of our friends who have been endlessly supportive this past year (you know who you all are!)

A huge thanks to all the wedding industry trades who worked with us on Ruffles + Rockʼs first creative shoot this past summer. Thank you for believing in us and letting us run with it. It was a truly inspirational day that weʼll always remember. So thank you to Renee and Matt at Salon Wisp, Robyn and Tess at Robyn S. Russell Photography, Melanie Whitmore, Mike Black at Candidly Yours Photography, Christine at Settings Stylist, Lisa at My Backshed, Danielle at Pearl Bridal House, Eva from The Love of Creating, and of course our models – Carly, Brittany, Tiffany and Kristian.

Thank you to Joel A. for hosting Ruffles + Rockʼs website. And finally, a huge thank you to Ashley & Malone for their crazy talented branding work and for creating our awesome website! It was so refreshing to work with branding/web developers who saw our vision so perfectly and translated it into such beautiful work – Anji and I canʼt thank you enough!

Ok … so on that note, now that we are up and running, we canʼt wait to begin this next chapter with you! We hope that youʼll come and visit us often here and check out whatʼs new and exciting in the world of Ruffles + Rock. From behind the scenes of our events, styled photo shoots, DIY projects, to keeping up with wedding industry trends – we promise to keep it fun, fresh and stylish!

Happy Friday! Happy Weekend! {insert happy dance + cocktail}

Stay grateful,
